Although it was invented in 1939 by Alex Osborn, an American advertising manager, brainstorming is still in vogue. However, a successful brainstorming session cannot be improvised or you will waste time in a totally unproductive meeting.

Brainstorming consists in bringing together a small group of motivated employees, representative of different business lines, so that they collectively produce as many new ideas as possible on a given theme. It requires more preparation than a traditional meeting to stimulate the group's creativity.

Marketing, coaching or project management specialists are full of ideas to carry out the brainstorming process, but you may invent your own methods. Get all the chances on your side by equipping your room with a large board to encourage creativity when writing, drawing, displaying documents or post-it. Flipcharts and other mobile boards are also great partners.
